People keep asking me about a website, so I finally caved and made one. I started writing in 3rd person and then nearly vommed a little. I don’t like yappin’ on about myself, but here’s a few things:

I grew up in small-town Oregon making mud pies and collecting insects. I studied marine science at Oregon State University (go Beavs!) and now spend most of my year at sea working with Lindblad Expeditions National Geographic as an undersea specialist. I travel from pole to pole helping people explore some of Earth’s most remote wilderness areas. Though I love all things ocean, I have a strong preference for life in the ice. My goal is to use underwater photography and videography to educate, and to spark a passion for our marvelous marine environment. I hope my enthusiasm can empower others to become better ocean advocates (we desperately need more). My main areas of interest: science communication (it's time to change the way we science!), changing our single-use mindset, and fighting our current exploitation of marine ecosystems . I believe that people should always work hard, but never take life too seriously.

Other random things that I love: a hoppy IPA fresh from a tap, window seats, piglets, looong naps, nudibranchs, driving small boats through brash ice, bean burritos, flowy pants, buying things second-hand, reading by the fire, knitting, asking people personal questions, and grandmothers (especially my own).
